Before I continue on with my list of 101 things, I just want to say that I watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It was great! I did enjoy it. They changed things as usual but it was still done well. I think I'm going to watch it again when Jason gets back from Bathurst as I watched a 9:20 session with about 20-25 mins of previews and ads. I was a bit tired and probably didn't appreciate as much as I would normally. I'm looking forward to reading the last book. Although I didn't pre-order one so I will have to wait until Jason's mum finishes it
which should be in 2 days after it's released. I just don't want to find out the ending or who dies prematurely. So I'm going to avoid forums and any entertainment news.
Anyway, I found out about the 101 Things in 1001 Days via Little Miss Meshell's blog. I followed the link and was inspired to start one, especially when I read Meshell's list.
The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).
Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as new year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.
Some common goal setting tips:
1. Be decisive. Know exactly what you want, why you want it, and how you plan to achieve it.
2. Stay Focussed. Any goal requires sustained focus from beginning to end. Constantly evaluate your progress.
3. Welcome Failure. Frequently, very little is learned from a venture that did not experience failure in some form. Failure presents the opportunity to learn and makes the success more worthy.
4. Write down your goals. It clarifies your thinking and reinforces your commitment.
5. Keep your goals in sight. Review them frequently, and ensure that they are always at the forefront of your thinking.
It took me a few days to compile my list but I think it is done. In time I will add it to the sidebar and cross things off as I go. I thought it was a great way to keep my goals in focus and to start and finish things I have always said I would do and then some.
I thought I would put this here to break all the writing up. This was given to me from my brother's girlfriend. We talked about piggy banks and I told her how I always wanted one and she got me one with a sweet little note card.

Oh that is a FANTASTIC list, it was so fun to read! Good luck to you for everything, it sounds so very fun and organised.
I didn't know you were in Australia too, wow! I love the idea of going to Cambodia, I hope you get to do that. And can I ask what a cuddle mum is? That sounds really interesting =)
I can't wait to see your progress, I'll be watching! xx
Thanks Meshell! It is a lot of fun organising a list. And yeh I'm in Australia as well.
I hope I get to Cambodia as well. The rescue home is for girls pushed into prostitution by their families. It's a sad story.
Also a cuddle mum is basically going in and spending time with the really sick children and just helping them to smile =)
What a great idea this list is! And what fun it was to read all your aspirations for the next 1001 days. I think putting in on the blog side bar and crossing them off you as go is a GREAT idea!
Hmmm... your're inspiring me to make a list of my own. Like doing a five year plan, but just for the next 2.5 years.
Haven't seen the new Harry Potter movie yet ... can't wait! And the last (*sniff*) book too. I bought the prior book the night it was released and stayed up all night, finishing it by dawn. Complete fun!
Great list - it's very insprining!
I can't wait to see some of your outcomes!
Hey Gracie,
Just wanted to let you know that I have 'awarded' you a Blogger Reflection Award. *laughs*
Thank you SO much for such an encouraging post. (Really, I think that is such a cool idea! I must start setting up my own. :-))
*hugs*
Blessings my dear!
In Christ,
~Danica
