Just a Minute in...January

*my beautiful gift from Laura

Just a Minute in.... January

Feeling... A little bit lifeless
Planning... Our USA trip
Hoping... I find my 'spark' again
Signing... Up for a one day letterpress class
Waiting... For my birthday in a few weeks
Listing... My goals and what I want to achieve
Looking... Forward to our week off (and celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary)
Praying... For many special people in my life

Even my Just a Minute posts are lacking a certain energy and that's how I've been feeling lately. I'm not sure why but I'm going through a real restless, flat and uninspired time. I don't feel inspired to do anything. Usually at this time of the year I would be happily planning my birthday but this year I haven't even picked the weekend for it (I still had one after my wedding even if it was a little late). I know you can't see it over the blog but I'm actually an extremely happy person so to feel this way is a little scary.

What do you do when you are going through a flat, lifeless patch? Any tips or ideas?

Have a wonderful rest of week. Hopefully next post I will be back to my chirpy self.

  1. It's the January blues, when Christmas and New Year is over and you feel at a bit of a loss. I hope you feel more like your happy bubble y self soon.

  2. Oh Gracie, it sucks to feel like this I think we all have these lows in life. Sometimes I find it can just be one little thing in life getting me down and it affects my whole life and outlook. Maybe make a list of what makes you happy and what makes you sad and look at ways of changing the things that dont make you happy. Maybe on the weekend have a you day - cook a big delicious brekky, go for a long walk, get a massage or your nails done, buy a new dress - spoil yourself, you deserve it! xxx

  3. This happens to me from time to time. To feel revived it can be very helpful to do something you have never done before...like a bucket list item! This year for my b-day I think I am going to shooting range to use guns. I am by no means a violent person but this is a bucket list item that will feel exhilarating and maybe inspiring in a strange way!

  4. Dear Gracie I am sorry to hear you are feeling this way, we all go through this once in a while. Maybe try an new hobby some type of craft you haven't tried before, get a new hairdo perhaps...you are a wonderful person and you will go through this triumphant!! Take care of yourself also!

  5. I'm sorry you've been feeling down, Gracie. :( I felt the same way much of last year. I thought I'd be really happy getting the new house and all, but I think I just ended up getting overwhelmed. But I've decided to put the funk behind me, so I'm looking forward to a great year! :) I hope yours is as well... you deserve it!

  6. I can relate. So far, I have spent this January feeling pretty miserable, despite my best efforts to shake it. Lots of time in the fresh air, and surrounding myself with the people I love, is helping... And the knowledge that February will soon be here.

I love Megan's idea of having a "you day"... you should totally do that. Spoil yourself and treat yourself to everything nice. You DO deserve it!

  7. Sometimes, you just have to muddle through. Sadly.

However I try to put myself out there as much as possible. I read inspirational blog posts and stories that fire me up! :)

  8. I pretty much feel the same way at the moment, but it's not that weird, I always have the January blues.

I would say that you have to let yourself feel that way sometimes, it's okay. You don't have to do anything if you don't feel like it at them moment. It's going to feel better, sooner than you think. But planning fun things usually helps! :)

    Take care! //Niina

  9. January blues!! I always, always get them. There's something about the magic of the holidays being over that just kind of synches it for me.

I think when I feel this way, I usually wind up picking a new project, something to really sink my teeth into and get excited about. Otherwise, I just let myself have a few uninspired days. Creativity and zest sometimes feels cyclical to me...there are periods where it abounds, and some where it's lacking.

Here's hoping you find that spring in your step again soon...but if not, don't be to hard on yourself. It happens to all of us! :)

  11. A good, funny movie is always nice. Something that's really uplifting is looking up every verse in the Bible about joy and reading them!
    You'll feel better soon!

  12. I totally know how that feels! Been feeling that for quite a while now until just recently. Well, I try to surround myself with possible sources of inspiration and all things happy to help me get back on track to feeling inspired. :) But sometimes, it's good to give yourself a little break - does help to refocus! Don't be too hard on yourself. :)

I hope you have a lovely weekend, G! xx
