One of my favourite things to wear in summer is a breezy skirt and top. You can't really tell in the photo but my they are actually heart shaped polka dots. One of the reasons I was so attracted to the skirt.
As I mentioned in my last post, I've been feeling very flat. I am happy to say that the feeling is slowly fading. It's been a mixture of things like writing in my journal, making a few little bits and pieces, talking to Jason and lots of praying. I had a mini breakdown session yesterday when I started telling Jason about how I'm just living each day, doing the same thing and not really making a difference.
I'm not sure what set me off but I started having this internal struggle with myself and my thoughts. In the end I decided to write a list of things I want to do and achieve and Jason and I also went to the Lifeline Bookfest. Books make me happy so I spent a few hours digging around for books and admiring those that volunteered for the week. Lifeline is a charity organisation so all the money raised will go to them.
And this morning at church I felt so inspired and blessed. I realised how selfish I'm being, by just thinking about my own happiness, when there are so many other people around me that struggle so much more. So my lists now also include how I can make more of a difference and impact this world in some way. I know we were created for something more than to just live each day the same.
This verse really impacted me....
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that should walk in them." Ephesians 2:8-10.
I know I've written a lot more than I usually do but I think this year, I will be sharing more about myself and my life. It might get a little more personal. Hope that's alright :)
Have a wonderful week!
Personal is good, Gracie!
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful, by the way :)
It's nice finding out more about you and I think we all feel this way sometimes. I went to the Bookfest as well I loved it. I may go back for a second look.
ReplyDeleteThe skirt looks gorgeous! Good to see your seeing the brighten side. :)
ReplyDeleteYou always look so good in your outfit posts, always so pulled together. I am really glad that you are feeling better! I hope that it continues and you feel better than ever very soon.
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit Gracie and those sandals are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel I too have felt that way and you do feel bad because you think there are people battling cancer and awful things but still things still affect us and we cannot change how we feel.
Glad to see that you trying to feel better xx
I'm glad you're feeling better! It's usually like that, it's the little things that make a big difference :)
ReplyDeleteI like personal, personal is good!
Yes. Gracie sometimes I think we struggle with self-doubt and wondering why we are doing what we are. It times like that, I almost always do what you did--turn to the Bible for comfort and reassurance.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your skirt sweetie!!
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is so cute! I am glad to hear you are coming out of that sad place. I know what you mean though. Every week feels the same with no break and no change in sight. That is when it becomes so important to focus on the little things that we love so much!
ReplyDeleteI've been feeling a little bit like you lately, as far as not feeling like you're going anywhere in life. But I too have determined to change something about that. Isn't it amazing how just trying to work through that feeling and understand it helps it go away? I'm glad you're feeling more full of life now :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, your outfit is so pretty! :)
I just did a change up of my blog too. Like I said in my blog - the people who read (well at least comment) on my blog - I class as 'blog friends' so I think I should use my blog as a way to write about whatever I want/feel/think.
ReplyDeleteNow there is the pretty smile! Glad to hear you are feeling better. Personal is fine Gracie! That is what life is all about!
ReplyDeleteglad you're feeling better. you look adorable! and i want those sandals...so jealous you have summer while we have cold. hope you get the ornaments soon.
ReplyDeletei go weak in the knees for all things polka dots, where they're dots or hearts or any shape. i may have more than one similar polka dotted skirt. haha! ;)
ReplyDeleteand personal is good! :) writing and sharing it all out can be really therapeutic. sometimes all we need is a little sharing, a little breakdown, and then we get to gather ourselves for what life throws at us! :) really happy that the flat feeling is going away bit by bit now.
have a sweet week, gracie! x
love the skirt and love that verse! thanks for sharing your heart :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy to get weighed down with the everyday life - wake, work, sleep - repeat. I think we should make a deal this year to look for the beautiful things in life and focus on them :D
