Hello lovely people. It's been ages since I last blogged. I can't seem to get back in the swing of things. I got back from Melbourne about 2 weeks ago and it was amazing! I will have to blog about it soon. So I've been feeling a little off lately. Mainly frustrated with myself. I've come to a point where I'm getting sick of the excuses I make to not do things. I write a to do list but I list way too many things and get completely overwhelmed and end up not doing anything. I was talking to my good friend Jasmine and she has suggested I break down my list and do a little each day. I think this is a good tactic and I've started it this weekend and I think it is working for me.
I think my biggest problem is procrastination. I find it difficult to push myself to do things and end up doing nothing. Some days I feel like I accomplish very little and it then makes me feel guilty which then turns into frustration. Making a change is hard and I've been 'trying' to be organised, to keep my house clean, to cook something new, to exercising more and I put so much pressure on myself.
I know I've written quite a few posts about my procrastination and lack of discipline but there's no time like today to make a change. I'm seriously thinking about doing the Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation (she's a trainer on the Australian Biggest Loser) because I need some guidance with my health and fitness.
Hopefully I will be more positive in my posts soon. I'm going through some personal change and growth.
I hope you are all well!
P.S. The photo is of some of my journals.
Hi
ReplyDeleteI definitely understand where you are coming from as i am in the same place at the moment. My room looks like a bomb site with clothes and textbooks everywhere. I've been procrastinating to do a lot of things lately. Your friend is right though, try breaking it down to smaller things
Since i've been struggling with cooking and working out, i've given myself a 21 day challenge. I am also struggling with blogging as well but i manage to read others' blogs
PS: i love the 'one sentence a day' journal. Where is it from?
xo Stephanie
I know exactly what you mean, I seem to be worse when I have a few days off, like the more time I have the less I get done because I just think oh there's always tomorrow. Breaking down the list seems like a good idea. I just borrowed a fitness dvd from my sis which I am going to start tomorrow, well that's the plan anyway!!
ReplyDeleteI think this happens to all of us especially in this day and age where women are expected to "have it all" even if we dont want it all.
ReplyDeleteI love Jasmines idea to break it down into smaller lists. I once read that you should do the hardest, most time consuming or things you dont want to do first so that they are over and done with because they are most likely the things that are making you procrastinate.
Also take time out for you and remember its ok to just veg out sometimes :)
We all feel this way from time to time, it's hard to stay on top of everything, and I am very guilty of choosing fun distractions over the productive tasks I should be working on, my dining table has been taken over with work I need to finish... but I agree with Megan that you can't be too hard on yourself and it is important to have down time too.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll be stealing Jasmine's advice, she's a wise woman!

Ugh!! I am the same way!! I have lists upon lists of the things I want/need to do and it's rally hard to just sit down and do it!!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of smaller lists so it seems easier to manage!!
I hope that all goes well + I'm so that I haven't written back to you!! It's one my to-do list but sadly so are about a billion other things! I just don't want you to think that I've forgotten you - because I haven't!! :) xo
I'm sure we're all guilty of procrastination from time to time. Don't be too hard on yourself. You'll get back into the swing of times soon, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteI am feeling you Gracie. There must be something in the air in Brisbane cause I feel exactly the same way.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all your goals!
ReplyDeleteMy problem is usually keeping up with things (like sending letters, as you've probably noticed...ehem)...I start something and go all in (running, eating healthy, cooking, baking, cleaning...) and then I never finnish. I hate that! Haha
I totally hear ya! I think it's natural for us to feel this way from time to time, especially when so much piles up that it becomes overwhelming. I try to make lists too, and I agree it's a lot easier when the lists are shorter and more accomplishable. It's actually pretty therapeutic to cross things off my to do list. You should totally blog about everything that you've accomplished each day too!!

Sunnywithasideof...
I think becoming organised is something that takes time. At first it can be a struggle to fight against the urge to not do whatever it is you have to do in favour of something you want to do, but the more you do it the better you'll get. Take today, for example. I made sure I did some cleaning before I sat down to look at blogs because I knew that as soon as I sat down I wouldn't want to get up again, haha.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing to do is use my phone's reminders because they flash at me and force me to acknowledge them.

i know the feeling... I seem to find myself procrastinating on so many things lately... especially blogging!!! ha!
ReplyDeleteOh Dear Gracie, don't be so hard on yourself! Take it one day at time, your friends advise is very wise, shorter lists and attainable goals. I am sure you can do it. I am sending tight hugs your way!!
ReplyDeleteGracie as I read this I had to keep checking I wasn't reading my own words - because I'm feeling EXACTLY like this too!! And I'm not the only one either. I think these sorts of frustrations come creeping in over winter when it's harder to be motivated, but I tend to use that as bit of an excuse. I don't know about you but I get home from work, flop on the couch and good luck getting me to do anything else! I'm not even cooking proper meals and its taking its toll on my health and wellness.
ReplyDeleteI think the trick is to make yourself accountable. Tell as many people as possible (as you have by writing this post) that you're changing things. I'm thinking of doing Sarah Wilson's 'I Quit Sugar' program and have been desperately begging people to do it with me. So far no takers but I've told so many people they'll all be asking me about it and I want to be able to say I'm giving it a go and it's great! Or tell everyone at work tonight you're going to do x y z and chances are they'll ask you about it tomorrow. I guess it's not always great to be seeking approval from other BUT I find it helps a lot with motivation for short term things.
I'll be keeping in touch to see how you're going, and feel free to check up on me too! By springtime we'll be right back on track and making the most of every day!! xx
