Creative Courses

Hello hello! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I went to a baby shower for my new nephew (due in March) which was fun. It also made me clucky :(

Anyway, I mentioned in my last post that there are some creative courses that I would like to do this year.

A jewellery making course. There's a beginner course at Southbank Institute. And another one at Griffith Uni College of Art, which sounds interesting.
A book binding course. I've found one at the Queensland Bookbinders Guild. I can do the basics but a course would be good to get that finishing touch.
A journal making course with Adele Outteridge that my photographer (Sharon Pappas) for my wedding recommended.
I would like to take an adult ballet class at 2 Ballerinas.
I've love to do the Indie Business course.
The Brown Owls would be a fun group to join. Maybe I could finally learn to crochet and knit here.

These are just a few of the courses I would like to do. There are some things I will just learn via tutorials from YouTube and other places.

Like how to use my letter press machine. I've had it for a few years now and I've forgotten how to use it (after getting shown when I bought my letter press machine).
I would like to do another sewing course to refresh my memory from the last sewing course I did.
I am using YouTube to make different types of friendship bracelets, hemp wish bracelets for fun.
Tutorials and eBooks to learn how to make other fabric flowers (for headbands and shoe clips).

I think in general I'd like to explore my creativity and try to build up my skills. Especially at the moment while I'm job hunting. I'm absolutely sure that this is my year to really get out there and experience new things. To do the courses I've always wanted to try. To break out of my comfort zone. To get a new job. Without a doubt something has shifted in my mind set and I'm determined to stop second guessing myself.

I hope you all have a fantastic week!

P.S I would invite you all to my Alice birthday if I could :)

Rain, rain go away

This has been the wettest summer that I can remember. It has been raining so much that if I ever see sun I need to go outside and feel it on my skin.

If it's not raining, it's an overcast day. It's hard to believe that a few years ago we were in a horrible drought with water restrictions. Now our dams are overflowing and half the state is flooded.

But I should be thankful that we have water and everything is looking nice and green. Plus this weather makes me want to read and watch movies or a TV series. What I've been doing is watching TV shows and making things. I'm only just getting back into everything.

This is my latest project. Making fabric yoyo's with the intention of putting them on headbands, making shoe clips and a few other things. I want to make some bows too. I'm loving fabric and pretty shank buttons lately.

I want to create more for my Etsy and branch out a little from my usual fare. I have a lot of ideas floating around in this head of mine.

A few creative things to do...

♥ Create more items for Etsy
♥ Work on my project idea for Project You :)
♥ Catch up on all my mail
♥ Start creating for my Alice in Wonderland themed birthday (my birthday isn't until 1st of Feb and the actual party won't be until later but I really want to creative for it so I should start now - I have tons of ideas so maybe a post on that later)

I think I just want to be more creative in general. Work doesn't give me much of an opportunity with that so it's nice to go home and make things.

So have a lovely weekend and I want to say to Jasmine of Lavender's Green that I hope you have a beautiful wedding and have fun!!

What I've been making

Thanks for the comments on my purchases. I know I shop a lot but really half the shopping is for other people :)

I had a small creative night and made a few things. They are just simple headbands as I haven't got all my supplies to make more intricate ones.

These headbands are quite comfortable. My gold butterfly.

A pink bow.

I quite like this little red heart.

And I made this ruffle rose but not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.

I want to make a lot more, hopefully soon. I feel like I have a never ending to do list at the moment. And yet again work is driving me completely insane. It feels like every time I go in, I get a headache. Plus people are getting sick (again) around me. I swear people pass it on so easily at work and I have to make sure I double my defenses so I don't catch whatever is going round (24 hour tummy bugs it seems).

And I don't think I will make the Twilight Christmas markets tonight :( Long shift at work yesterday and early start tomorrow. I will see though, I might change my mind.

Anyway, have a fantastic weekend lovelies!

A little bit of everything

I love getting my hair cut. And being pampered in the process is a bonus. I went to GW Private room yesterday with my middle brother's girlfriend. She had a 50% off voucher so I obliged =) I had an aromatherapy head massage before the head massage while getting my hair washed plus the chair was a massage chair! While waiting I had my green tea and mango yogurt which I had requested from a list they gave me. The music is relaxing and the whole atmosphere is as well. I couldn't go there all the time because money wise it's just not practical but I had a little piece of luxury.

Anyway, Danni from Oh Hello Friend, is having a giveaway.

The banner above shows the items that were kindly donated. So get over there and enter =)Plus check out her other inspiring posts, lovely finds and beautiful pictures.

These are the invitations I made for my friend Laura's Hen's night this Saturday night.

I had fun making them. I might play around with the idea more to come up with something for my Etsy. I really need to update and add more items.

A close up. I was originally going to make a large corset and open it up but it just didn't seem to work on a large scale, whereas, the tiny one looked a lot better.

My creative pursuits continue on. Tomorrow I will be getting my tabletop letterpress from Bespoke Press. So that's exciting news. Plus on Monday night I had my first dress making course. I should have specified that it's a dress making course not sewing lesson like I said in my previous post. It's been fun. I'm working towards making a simple skirt and learning how to read patterns. My only embarrassing moment was when I smacked my head under a shelf =( I didn't look up and bang instant bump on my head. It hurt for quite a bit the next day.

Anyway, have a great weekend!

The beginning of my creative pursuits

Tomorrow night I have my first sewing lesson/course. I'm kind of nervous but I'm sure it will be fine. I'm going to try making a simple skirt for now. I had fun looking through the pattern books and wished I could one day make my own clothes. I will keep you updated.

Here are some envelopes I have been playing around with. I might put them in my Etsy
This is the one of my ideas. I'm thinking of making a few more of these envelopes. I will most likely have tags? Or a skinny mini note card.

I was playing around with my new Basic Grey stamps. I definitely need some new ink pads. I'm also thinking of playing around with embossing powders.

This week I'm also getting my tabletop letterpress from Bespoke Press. This picture is a photo of some items I bought from Simple Song Design. Letterpress is beautiful! So I'm quite excited to try my own designs!!

Have a great week everyone xox

Packages and other creative pursuits

I have so much free time on my hands (due to not working much) and there are so many creative things I would like to do that it's hard to know where to start.

However before I go into details I just want to share some lovely packages I have received.

This is from Kerri. It was such a sweet little package. She included the Hemlines stationery set that I have wanted to get for ages!

The pretty wrapping from another package. This one was from Jason. It was for my birthday.

This is what was inside the wrapping. Everything is from Notemaker. A small Moleskine, two other notebooks, and two different photo albums.

I received this pretty brooch from Anastasia. It's so lovely.

And this is another package from Anastasia. It's a pizza box of collage/crafty supplies that she got from Ruby St Designs. Gorgeous things. I should really start creating with it!

I have a few new creative pursuits. One being sewing. I have my first sewing lesson/course next Monday night, so that should be interesting and fun. The other is letterpress. I wanted to do a lesson or course for so long. There aren't any here which is a shame but I have bought a tabletop letterpress. I'm getting it from Bespoke Press. Jason and I went around to have a look at it and it was just too good to pass up. Alischa is just so lovely and she was very informative. Her work is amazing! Eee! I'm so excited about things.

Thank you for my packages and for all the lovely people I am so privileged to met and know =)
