WIP

I had my second dressmaking class last night. I'm loving it! I'm actually understanding how to read a pattern and my sewing skills are definitely improving. Plus I love that there are only 5 of us in a class so we get a lot of one on one tuition.

I'm going to try and do some WIP photos. This is my skirt sections. It took me the 3 1/2 hours of the lesson to learn to read the pattern and cut this out and iron on interfacing. But at least I sort of know how to read a pattern now.

The skirt I'm following is the one in the middle of this pattern pack. I don't wear long skirts ever. It looks kind of old the style but I couldn't get the one I wanted.

This is what I'm up to from my lesson last night. I just have to sew one side up and the hem. And to neaten it. lol I still don't really know what I'm talking about yet. Don't have the sewing lingo down pat.

I am hoping the skirt will be a little shorter with the hem up. Excuse the messiness of it as I am still learning. I'm quite proud of my zipper work though. Ana my teacher is great at teaching how to sew a zipper. And the little box that is seen in my photos is my little sewing box.

I just had to make a mosaic of Blythe sized sewing rooms. They are just too sweet! I love miniatures too. I've been tempted many times to buy a Blythe doll. If I ever do there will definitely be a sewing/craft room.

P.S. Will post about my tabletop letterpress hopefully next post. And I do hope I have something to show too.

P.P.S. Still completely caught up with The Hunger Games!

A little bit of everything

I love getting my hair cut. And being pampered in the process is a bonus. I went to GW Private room yesterday with my middle brother's girlfriend. She had a 50% off voucher so I obliged =) I had an aromatherapy head massage before the head massage while getting my hair washed plus the chair was a massage chair! While waiting I had my green tea and mango yogurt which I had requested from a list they gave me. The music is relaxing and the whole atmosphere is as well. I couldn't go there all the time because money wise it's just not practical but I had a little piece of luxury.

Anyway, Danni from Oh Hello Friend, is having a giveaway.

The banner above shows the items that were kindly donated. So get over there and enter =)Plus check out her other inspiring posts, lovely finds and beautiful pictures.

These are the invitations I made for my friend Laura's Hen's night this Saturday night.

I had fun making them. I might play around with the idea more to come up with something for my Etsy. I really need to update and add more items.

A close up. I was originally going to make a large corset and open it up but it just didn't seem to work on a large scale, whereas, the tiny one looked a lot better.

My creative pursuits continue on. Tomorrow I will be getting my tabletop letterpress from Bespoke Press. So that's exciting news. Plus on Monday night I had my first dress making course. I should have specified that it's a dress making course not sewing lesson like I said in my previous post. It's been fun. I'm working towards making a simple skirt and learning how to read patterns. My only embarrassing moment was when I smacked my head under a shelf =( I didn't look up and bang instant bump on my head. It hurt for quite a bit the next day.

Anyway, have a great weekend!

Resting until stocktake

The Myer stocktake sale starts next week. So my hours sky rocketed. I was rostered for 47.5 hours with six days straight, but I managed to get it down to 43.5 instead. I'm so glad I was able to because it was just a ridiculous amount.

I am loving the rain though as it hasn't rained properly since about February and we really need it. Our dams need it so much.

Anyway, I am so much more inspired at the moment. I have 50 million ideas running through my head. A few being: making stationary sets (I have ideas for kraft paper and parchment paper), baking some cupcakes, and going to an actual sewing course! Yay! I've emailed the instructor to figure out details. I hope I will be able to.

Here is another flickr mosaic. It's mainly of little baby booties. I find them soo cute and I would love to make some to decorate. Plus I have this dream to be able to make baby clothes and donate them to various charities and other organisations. But this will come in time. The pictures are mainly from Japanese craft books and a few from other magazine images. They are inspiring me lately.

Anyway, I will leave it here and hope you all are well.

Survival of the first week

I've finished the first week of uni and it seems like it will be quite busy. Especially with the musical rehearsals. I have them twice a week now. I also dropped out of a class and have enrolled in a new one. So I hope this one works out better for me.

This week I also had my first sewing lesson. Since the purchase of the new sewing machine I haven't had any yet but I had one this week. It was pretty good. I hope I can really use it now. I have one more lesson in a few weeks time. If I happen to make anything I will post a picture.
Here are a few things I've been making. One of them is just another one of those frames.
This is it. I love butterflies, polka dots and pink. So I thought this would be appropriate. I cut out the butterflies, but I hope I can make more.
I took this today. I thought it was cute. It's my dad and my little nephew Caeleb lying on the floor in the lounge room. Caeleb just copied my dad. He was watching the Wiggles. I took this photo from the stair by the way.

Anyway, thats it from me
