French Twist

Hello my lovelies. I hope you are well. I'm on a bit of a I love Brisbane high at the moment. I just found this wonderful winter event that is starting tomorrow, but I will write about that next time.

Last Saturday, I went to French Twist with my girls Laura and Kristina. It was kind of send off for Laura who is now in Europe with her hubby for 5 weeks.

French Twist is just the most beautiful place. The interior had vintage furniture, chandeliers, pretty teacups, but we weren't allowed to take photos, so we took a few sneaky shots with our iPhones.

The sun was shining through that window and it was utterly enchanting.

Laura's macarons. They were so yummy.

My chicken baguette I had for lunch.

I loved the sugar cubes and the way everything was brought to us.

My China Rose tea (I thought I would try it). It was lovely. And the teacup and saucer were so cute.

This is the inside part of French Twist. Absolutely beautiful inside!

This is the picture I had from the last post :) I took home that 3 pack of macarons.

I had to show this picture with a part of the interior. I wish we were able to sit here.

Finding these places make me want to be a tourist in my own city. So many places to discover. Have you ever found hidden treasures in your city even when you have lived there for years?

Have a great rest of week.

All about hair

Just a mix of bits and pieces this post. A post about my thoughts would be appropriate, perhaps.

My legs are aching right now. I had a long work shift yesterday and my shoes don't help. In fact I think they are killing my feet and my legs. But I don't want to wear those ugly (comfy) shoes that the older (no offense) women at work wear.

Anyway, I thought I would try something different with my hair to cheer me up. So I tried to braid my hair but I really can't braid so I had to settle for some plaits. Here are a few photos of my attempt.

I need to learn how to braid properly but I had to be happy with plaits. I had one on each side of my head and put the rest of my hair into a messy bun. My hair not actually this light but this is the colour of it in the sun or with light.

This is more my natural colour. I put a little bow in my hair to finish off the look and I really loved it all day. Oh and I have 3 earring holes but one of my tiny pearl earrings broke (the pearl fell out!) And I always forget to put earrings in the first hole.
How do you like?? I want to experiment more and hopefully learn to braid properly.

A few other random things. I would love to make my own version of this headband.

Via Ban.do

I was so ready to buy it but shipping to Australia was ridiculous and I have found some supplies and thought I would make it myself.

And this is another project I want to attempt that I saw via Project Wedding. Chiffon and tulle flowers. Again I thought this would be pretty on a headband but it could be a corsage brooch or could be made into a sash! I have found some supplies which I have to purchase soon.

I had a few other things I was going to share but I might save that for another post. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! It's another long weekend for us. It's Labour Day on Monday. Whee for public holidays!

Oh so sickly

Hello lovelies. I have a tummy bug and it's horrible. I'm feeling better than I was yesterday when I couldn't even walk up the stairs to my room without having to lie down on the floor for a few minutes to let the nausea and dizziness subside. I can actually sit up today. I spent most of yesterday lying down on the lounge with a blanket. I've barely eaten because food makes me feel queasy. I had a 1 piece of dry toast and 2 crackers yesterday. I will try and eat more today if I can. Jason came over last night to use my laptop for work and he bought me some ice blocks because I felt like them. Only thing I could probably stomach. He's so wonderful.

It's horrible because this tummy bug is going around and I know a fair few people who have gotten it these past few weeks. It hits you really hard too. I think I had it in my system for a few days before it really hit me because I had been getting cold chills even when it was quite warm. Sunday night I was feeling chilly and Jason was feeling hot.

Anyway, I was meant to work today but of course I couldn't. And in a few days time I was meant to go down to Bathurst with Jason and his family to attend his cousin's wedding. But I don't think I could last a 13 hour drive on Thursday even if I am feeling better. Long car trips can make me feel a little sick anyway. So it looks like I won't be going which is a shame. Especially because Jason is going to be the MC for the reception.

Well just to keep this post a bit prettier, I have some photos from Laura's birthday from Saturday night.

This was part of my present to her. I usually give bits and pieces and package it up.

Prettifying the gift bags. I made the bauble using feathers and those plastic baubles you can buy from an art shop.

I gave that print to her as a thank you for doing our engagement photos.

Pretty fairy lights. And I adore her mirror.

Her candelabra and a sampling of the food she prepared.

A collection of pretty teacups.

On her coffee table. I gave her the book in the middle for Christmas last year. I love the book on top " This little Piggy went to Prada"

The cupcakes she made as her cake. The cupcake wrappers are gorgeous!

Lovely Laura is the perfect housewife. She just needs a pretty apron.

The rest of these photos are Laura's.

Written on one of the cards she received.

All the girls. Minus her sister. That's her lovely mum on the end on the right.

After dinner just chatting.

Wearing the cupcake wrappers on our head like a crown. It made me want to have an Alice in Wonderland party next year.

It was such a gorgeous night. She's the perfect hostess and dinner was lovely. It's given me some ideas of what to do for my 25th (eek) birthday next year. I'm actually having my birthday on the last day of our honeymoon but when we get back I would love to do something for it.

Have a great week. And I'm going to go back to resting on the couch.

Inspiration and randomness

My neck is so sore. I feel like I've got whiplash and I probably do after jumping around on my nephews trampoline yesterday. That Caeleb is a slave driver making us do 'ring a ring o' roses' 12 times on the trampoline. It was fun playing with him yesterday. He says the funniest things.

This is the skirt I made in my dressmaking class. I tried to iron it quickly before the photo but it still looks a little crinkly. I had taken photos of the other two items but the photos turned out bad and now there's no more sun. This skirt took me longer than I thought it would. I had some trouble with the invisible hem and even now it's still not neat. That's ok, I really enjoyed sewing and hope I will continue on with it (and get an over locker).

This delicious cupcake was a party favour from my friend Kristina's 24th birthday a few weeks ago (this was taken the day after not now lol). We played putt putt golf so the Raffaello white chocolate ball is to represent a golf ball. She baked them herself and it was so soo good.

This is to show off my new teacup and saucer set I got from my brother Alvin and his gf. It was a belated part of a bday present for me. It's not the greatest photo of the teacup though, which is so pretty.

My friend Laura had this wedding reception escort idea posted on her blog. I would love to use ornate frames as part of the decor and this would be perfect.

The colours of the frames have influenced my colour theme choices, which I was struggling with (to pick a colour theme). So it's to be white, silver, champagne and blush. Hopefully I will be able to make an inspiration board with colours and ideas.

Anyway, off to relax, read and eat. Have a lovely weekend!
