Journal Pages

I'm so inspired to create some journal pages now. Here are a few pages from the journal I made for Jasmine in our swap.

We had a list of questions for each other and answered them any way we wanted. Click on the images to enlarge them if you want to actually read what is written :)

How Would You Describe Yourself?

Three Favourite Things to Wear

Who Was Your First Celebrity Crush?

Favourite Part Of Brisbane and Why?

50 Things I Want To Do/Experience (this is just part of the list)

Some Favourite Quotes

Favourite Recipes

If You Had a Magazine, What Content Would You Have?

There were a lot more of course. One thing I do want to learn is to take better pictures and learn how to edit them. Just another thing to add to my list :)

Inspirational Journals

Thanks for all the advice on the journals. I'm actually still not sure what to get :) I would love to get them both but I am leaning towards the gold one.

Well, I've been gathering journal inspiration lately because I've been wanting to make a creative journal for fun. I've done a few journal swaps that I've enjoyed, but I would really like to make one with my memories, dreams, inspirations, future travels.

Here's some I have been gathering for ideas...

This one would be fun to do with my Instax Mini.

This is the cover to a journal swap I did with Jasmine. We answered questions and decorated the pages. It was definitely a fun swap. I had done something similar via Swap-bot, but I realised that I put more effort into my journal. So if I ever do another swap like this it will just be pen pals or blog friends. Let me know if you want me to share more pages?!

Jasmine, did suggest that with the Snail Mail group we do something similar but on a smaller scale. So I will definitely keep that in mind.

By the way, I will be emailing those involved with the post card swap tonight!!

Have a wonderful week!

Help needed

Hello lovelies! I hope the remaining part of your weekend is going well! I just need help deciding something. I want to get this journal from Etsy but can't decide on colour. It's a handmade leather journal from KarleighJae Etsy. Opinions?

I thought this gold one looks stunning and would look pretty in my handbag.

But I completely adore this Robin's Egg blue. It's definitely a favourite colour.

So which one would you choose?? I find it difficult to choose because the gold has been in my faves for a long time but this Robin's Egg blue is making me drool. I can just imagine how soft the covers feel and all the dreams and thoughts that will be written in them.

As for the post card swap, there's only one more day to join. I'm starting to assign partners and will hopefully have more info about the snail mail group soon.

Showing some Memories

I was trying to clean and organise my creative space yesterday but I got so caught up in memories while going through everything.

As I have mentioned before I love to keep journals and other things, a real memory hoarder.

These are some journals and note books from high school. They are mainly journals I wrote in with friends. I'm glad I kept these because I threw out my journals from this age group for some reason I will never understand. There are more of these but with us the rule was we keep the journals that we bought so these are just the ones I had bought and I hope my friends kept theirs.

These are some of my journals from the past few years. I haven't written as much as I used to in high school.

This little poem thing was written by a friend of mine in one of the journals we shared. When I re read this I was so touched. It was a lovely memory.

This was from one of the journals with my friends. As you can see, we wrote about boys a lot. I was writing about some guy I had a crush on and how he smiled at me and this was the first time he talked to me. Haha!

Oh and I wrote a lot on the train and yes back in school I used little circles above my i's and full stops.

This is from my own personal journal from about 3 or 4 years ago. This is something I wanted for my room. I'm writing about my dream desk.

There were times when I would write about my fave song of the day and put lyrics.

My journals were dependent on my mood and I would always write what mood I was in before I write the entry. Mainly,  when I read back I can understand why I wrote what I did. It helps keep things in perspective.

So I hope you enjoyed that. If you liked this, I might share more pages sometime :) Let me know if you are interested in that.

Oh and on other news. I have a new nephew!! Micah was born yesterday via C-Section. We are going to visit him tomorrow! Can't wait!

P.S. Micaela is giving away her namesake headband over at her blog! Go check it out! x

Collecting Memories

Lately, I've been trying to write in my journal more often. I've just felt the need to document my thoughts and even the mundane happenings in my life. I guess I feel that if I had to save something I would save my journals, letters and photos.

This is my current journal. It's getting pretty fat because I always glue in little bits like clothing tags, movie tickets, stickers, little notes, all sorts of ephemera I collect.

I have about a third left and I hope to finish it soon.

I took this photo of my pretty journals and notebooks that are ready to be used and filled with all sorts memories.

Do any of you like to keep memories? Write in a journal? Keep all your letters and little notes? I have boxes of these. Maybe I will take a photo of them sometime.

Anyway, I have a giveaway going on over at Sandy a la Mode. Go and check it out to win a headband, a pair of earrings and some mini note cards of your choice!!

30 Day Journal Challenge

I have accepted the 30 Day Journal Challenge over at Run with Scissors. Each day Janel will post a prompt and we journal the way we want to. It could be sketching, doodling, writing, pictures. However you want to journal.

I think it is a fantastic way to get my creativity going and to journal consistently. Day 1 and Day 2 prompts have gone up and I've done mine. They're not fantastic but it's a good start. So hopefully by the end they will be a lot better.

The first task was to introduce ourselves. Because I have always loved those mind maps I thought it was appropriate. Excuse my little doodles. Drawing is definitely not one of my strong points.

The next task was to write/doodle/sketch the best part of your day. The lighting wasn't too good because it was late afternoon by the time it was completed. I chose to be a little mushy and said that Jason was the best part of my day :)

I think will my normal journalling I will incorporate pictures and other things sometimes. It makes me feel so creative. Right now I'm in the most creative mood, which is a good thing I guess. Maybe I will finally complete everything I've put on my to do.

Anyway, poor Jason is home sick and I feel like I might have picked it up slightly. So I will relax today. And we have dinner at my parents house. My brother and my new sister in law Melly are back from Europe! But more about that next time.

This image reminds me that I have a 365 journal and I haven't started it yet. Plus I have a few journal swaps that I must start with some blog friends. Sorry girls it will happen.

Have a wonderful week!

Journalling

I love to journal. It's the place where I can write about anything without being afraid of being judged (even then I sometimes censor my writing thinking someone will read it in 50 years time...weird I know).

This is my current journal. I go through stages where I will write every day and use up the journal but I've had this one almost a year now. It won't close because it's full of little bits.

These are my current notebooks (as well as journal). The first one is for my organising, the second in where I keep track of books I've read, journal and the Moleskine I use for ideas.

I have this dream of one day when I'm travelling I will be taking a leather bound journal, a fountain pen and a camera and sitting at little cafes penning my thoughts and adding photos (I guess I should have a Polaroid style camera) and little sketches.

But that's just a little dream for the moment. Right now besides my normal journal I would love to have a one that is just for daydreams, quotes, song lyrics, poems, attempts at sketching and decorated with bit of lace, paper doilies, Japanese masking tape, Polaroids, stitching...

Here are some examples of what I mean. It's taken from the same Flickr account, GingerLillyTea. I love her flickr, it's so dreamy and fairytale-like. My kind of person :)

She seems to have a fascination with Narnia, which I do too. It's one of my favourite books! But more about that another time.

This weekend will be filled with organising the house, putting photos up and hopefully starting a creative/dreamy journal. (That would be a fun swap!)

I hope you all have a wonderful, fantastic weekend!

P.S. Enter beautiful Micaela's giveaway! She's such a sweetheart and favourite of mine.

Journals and more

I love journals. Just as much as I love paper, stationary and letters. So I thought I would dedicate this post to a bit of journal love and some lovely pictures =)

I want to show a range of photos I took. I was mucking around with the camera so their not fantastic or anything. I just thought I would show my take on journals.

I tried showing one of my favourite journals from an angle but not enough so that the writing can be read.

This is the cover of the journal. It's gorgeous! It has blank pages as well which is what I prefer.

This is my new current journal. I don't really have little bits and pieces scatttered. Or the pic of Jason. It's all for the sake of this photo =p

Oh I was having fun setting things up. Attempting to have an action shot but I couldn't write and take the photo at the same time. I will learn lighting and how to photoshop photos properly to make them look better.

Anyway, here is a little thing I made in photo shop. I think it will be one of my next projects.

*Images taken from Kikki.K and Cristina Re.

I love her paper and I love Kikki.K stationary. I thought why not combine the two with my love of journals. Hopefully this will happen sometime next week on my week of uni! Until next time xox

Bits and Pieces

I got my hair done today. It was for a hairdresser friend of mine. She needed someone to test a new hair colour range and I said I would do it. And the best part was that it was free! Although, I wish I paid for a haircut as well as I need one desperately. As it was free there wasn't heaps of colour put in but it was enough.

Ok this is the front view. I can't help but smile in pictures. I look funny when I don't. There are two colours. This copper tone and a reddish colour. Both really nice. The foils were done under my hair which was different for me.

A side photo view of my hair. It's in need for a cut though so I will have to do that soonish. If you want to see the colour better just click on the picture. It should have a close up. I haven't coloured my hair in soo long. I reckon about 5 years!

List wise I haven't made a huge amount of progress. I have read another 2 books (#29), made a kind of plushie (#24, bought a journal (#31). I'm in progress as well with other things. In time I will do a list update on the sidebar. Here's a pic of the plushie. . It's for my brother. I got the bear pattern from this blog. It looks nothing like it's supposed to though =)

Also I finished the Harry Potter book. Well I finished last week sometime. I loved it! But of course I won't say anything about it here =) as I know people don't want to find out things by accident through a blog.

Here is the journal I bought today. It's a Pink Ribbon one. It's really sweet. It has blank pages which is what I prefer. Plus part of the sale goes toward the Breast Cancer research.

This is the just a picture of the pages. I love it that it's blank. And pretty pink paper too. Added bonus!

And here are a few things I have made. It's some jewellery. These are chandelier style earrings. I love Swarovski crystals. They shimmer so prettily in the light.

These ones I used with bits and pieces in my little jewellery stash. I don't really wear dangly earrings but I like to make them.

This is another one of my charm necklaces. I love charms and I do want more but cash strapped right now. I want all different kinds. And If you look closely you can see my reflection in the heart lol.

And a close up. Plus you can really see my reflection in this one. Eeep! This always happens with shiny things =)
