My 6 Word Memoir

Thanks for your beautiful comments from the previous post. You are so wonderful.

I participated in  Six Word Memoir Postcard swap on Swap-bot. It was fun and challenging and I enjoyed reading other people's six word memoirs.

These are the postcards I sent.

My memoir that I wrote on each one. This was my memoir for now.

These were the postcards I received. It's funny because I sent out a Fearless one exactly like that on another swap.

It was fascinating to read what their 6 word memoir would be. I was thinking about doing this as the next swap for the snail mail group (it appears that The Happy Mail Project could be it's name). What do you think about this?

A Mother's Love

I hope all the mothers out there had a beautiful and relaxing Mother's Day. Jason and I had breakfast with my mum and dad after church, then we had afternoon tea with Jason's mum. I don't have my camera at the moment so wasn't able to take any pictures which was a shame.

I wanted to dedicate this post to my wonderful mum. She has been so amazing over the years and I truly don't know what I would do without her. She taught me so many things, one on being unique and that it's alright to be different (I went through a whole stage where I wanted to change my name to make it more normal and wanting my hair to be straight and black, instead of dark brown and curly/wavy - mum always said I would appreciate my hair when I got older. Especially the colour. And now I love that my hair is naturally dark brown with tinges of auburn).

She was a great example in many ways and one of them is her unfailing love and faith for our Lord. I look up to her and see how she does life and I want to have her faith, I want to be able to pray like her. And when people say I look like a 'little Marilla' it makes me glad. I hope I can follow her example and one day be the mum that she was to me.

Here are a few random photos I picked. I realised that most of the old photos are at my parents house so I can't share some of the other mother/daughter moments.

Just after I was born. This was our old house in Sydney.

I was maybe two or three here. Still at our old house in Sydney.

A few years ago (like 6). This was at Carindale shopping Centre.

My 21st party. It was a Mexican Fiesta theme.

At a wedding in Sydney. I guess it was a trip with the parentals too.

Still on our Sydney trip, playing tourist. Though we used to live here so I don't know why we play tourist.

A Mother's Day breakfast from a few years ago.

Graduating from University.

A Christmas from a few years ago.

Going to a function at church for the SHE rescue home.

And the Wedding day :)

Seriously, I have the best age genes. I will never look my age because my parents don't look like theirs (of course they would never let me reveal that here haha)

So, I want to say thank you to my mum for being the best example that she could be, for her unwavering faith in the Lord and for loving me. To all the mums out there and mum's to be, you are so precious and amazing.

Just a minute in...May

My nephew Micah. I baby sat him for a few hours today :) He's such a sweetheart.

Just a Minute in May....

Looking... forward to the Mothers Day service at my church this Sunday. The Pastor's wife and their daughter will be doing a special Mothers Day/Women's message. Sure to be inspiring.

Planning... swaps and details for the snail mail group.

Thinking... about doing some work experience to help with my job searching.

Deciding... to stop constantly comparing myself to other people. It's pointless and it just brings me down.

Admiring... The beauty all around us. I've been captivated by the amount of stars that you can see in the country and the wonder of clouds.

Reminiscing... by listening to old music and remembering the memories associated with them. It brought me back to those times (good and sad).

Loving... Masterchef. I enjoy seeing what the contestants come up with. Plus it makes me adore food even more, especially the desserts.

Wanting... to take some creative classes to get me out of this slump I feel like I'm in.

I know that I'm going through major changes in my life right now and just trying to figure out what it is I'm doing with my life? There have been lots of tears, thinking and praying. I think I know what I want to do, I just have to do it. I need to stop being so critical of myself and comparing myself with other people. I don't know why I do it. And listening to the old music brought back certain memories. Both good and bad. I remember feeling happy but I also remember feeling a little worthless about myself. I think it's the old struggles and the occasional low self esteem I felt. I was good at hiding that part though and always looked happy.

I think this is one of the reasons why I was so big on journalling. I needed to let out my emotions some ways. I remember there were some days when I would lie on my bed and listen to sad music and just think (it's kind of emo really, never thought about it that way) but people thought I was this happy happy person and I know I was, but I had my days.

So, that post completely came out of nowhere and it's completely scattered. I don't usually get too personal on here but there are times when it just comes out :)

Tiny Mail

I have always loved teeny tiny things. And when I saw this little over at Letter Writers Alliance, I did a little squeal. Lea Redmond of World's Smallest Post has partnered with Chronicle Books to release this gorgeous stationery set to send your own tiny mail. When it's released I might have to gift this to myself :) I had actually sent Jason a tiny letter via World's Smallest Post and have loved it ever since.

Seriously, who wouldn't want to receive this in the mail?

Plus Lea Redmond also had a tutorial over at Photojojo to make teeny photo postcards.

I know I will be making these so I'm sure some of you will be receiving some in the mail :)

And on the topic of mail I'm trying to think of a name for the snail mail group. Here are a few ideas but I think they could be a little corny. Let me know what you think...

Quote Card Post cards

Hopefully everyone who participated in the Quote Card postcard swap has sent out their postcard with quote and received one back. If not just email me :)

So I had the lovely Erin as my swap partner (she had two because we had an uneven amount).

I sent her postcards along with a letter.

The postcards I sent her. The first two are from Belle and Boo Etsy and the bottom two are from The Littlest Fox Etsy.

A part of the quote I sent. I realised I didn't take a photo of it. Here's the quote...

" If you want your children to be smart, read them fairy tales; if you want them to be even smarter, read them more fairy tales."
~ Albert Einstein

My postcards (I love them) and some notes from Erin.

" A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water."
~ Eleanor Roosevelt.

" A person's a person no matter how small."
~ Dr Seuss

" How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."
~ Anne Frank

I really enjoyed this swap and thinking of doing this particular swap more often. Sending a post card with a quote. And yes, I will have details on the snail mail group soon.

I hope all that participated had fun :)
