My Friend Laura's Wedding

On Saturday it was my good friend Laura's wedding. It was beautiful. Simple, classic yet it definitely had her distinct touch.

Here are a few photos from that day. Unfortunately I didn't get a photo with her on my camera but I know that her sister took a photo.

Jason and I before we left.
Josh (the groom) waits with his groomsmen and the pastor.
The bridesmaids and flower girl. Laura drew a rough sketch for the dress designs for her bridesmaids and had them made. I love the fabric and the colour. I love how the dresses flow. So pretty.
The lovely Laura. Her dress is beautiful and she looked amazing!
Laura and Josh. I can't remember which part of the ceremony this was.
My friends Kristina and Natalia. This was taken after the ceremony. We were catching up while waiting for the reception. Laura and Josh were off to get photos.
The centre piece that Laura created. I love the simplicity of it. The candle light set the mood.
The favours were Hershey's kisses. Laura designed a monogram for her and Josh's initials. I should mention that she is a graphic designer.
The beautiful newlyweds. It was actually quite hard to take good photos with a normal camera. I think it had something to do with the lighting.
I think this is beautiful! I loved her dress. This photo reflects that way they are with each other all the time.
Laura had this frame with this quite in the ladies bathroom. She also had another similar frame with 'Powder Room' on it. It was so hard to take a photo of because there were always people in the bathroom. So I finally was able to just before we left.

It was so lovely and the little touches are what made it so special. I'm soo happy for them both and I hope they are having a fantastic honeymoon in Thailand.

Just a bit of inspiration

I've been playing around on Polyvore for the past few days looking at sets and creating a few of my own. I've found so many inspirational collages and some of the images they use I like to find. I'm trying to make my blog more of a place where I can share more of my inspirations as well as creations and my life.

Here are some for your own viewing pleasure......

I had to add the Star Wars pic because I love the movies and I think that is such a lovely photo.

Here are the Polyvore sets that I made the past few days.

I'm off to try and finish my To Do list which is really lagging behind lately. I'm sure my next post may be about my good friend Laura's upcoming wedding.

WIP

I had my second dressmaking class last night. I'm loving it! I'm actually understanding how to read a pattern and my sewing skills are definitely improving. Plus I love that there are only 5 of us in a class so we get a lot of one on one tuition.

I'm going to try and do some WIP photos. This is my skirt sections. It took me the 3 1/2 hours of the lesson to learn to read the pattern and cut this out and iron on interfacing. But at least I sort of know how to read a pattern now.

The skirt I'm following is the one in the middle of this pattern pack. I don't wear long skirts ever. It looks kind of old the style but I couldn't get the one I wanted.

This is what I'm up to from my lesson last night. I just have to sew one side up and the hem. And to neaten it. lol I still don't really know what I'm talking about yet. Don't have the sewing lingo down pat.

I am hoping the skirt will be a little shorter with the hem up. Excuse the messiness of it as I am still learning. I'm quite proud of my zipper work though. Ana my teacher is great at teaching how to sew a zipper. And the little box that is seen in my photos is my little sewing box.

I just had to make a mosaic of Blythe sized sewing rooms. They are just too sweet! I love miniatures too. I've been tempted many times to buy a Blythe doll. If I ever do there will definitely be a sewing/craft room.

P.S. Will post about my tabletop letterpress hopefully next post. And I do hope I have something to show too.

P.P.S. Still completely caught up with The Hunger Games!

My friend's Hens night

I've been away for a bit from blog land doing stocktake at work. I'm glad that it's over. Plus I have a new book obsession.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It was recommended by Stephenie Meyer on her website and since then I was trying to find the book. Three or four months later I see it on trolly of books to be put on shelves at work, so I bought it that day. I loved it! Click here to read about it. It is going to be a trilogy with the next book coming out later this year, though probably won't come to Aus until next year. I'm not sure what it is about this book but I thought about it all week and ended up rereading it a few times. It's for young adults and has some dark undertones. To me it's a mix between the gladiators of the Roman times to sci-fi fantasy. If you like those type of books you will love this.

Last weekend it was my friend Laura's hens night. I did her invitations. It was on Saturday night. It was great fun! It started off as a kitchen tea before we headed out for the Hens.

A gorgeous tea set that was given to Laura by her fiance Josh. The feathers next to it was for the hens night for us to wear in our hair. I edited the photo of course. The colour is a little faded.
I love these frames with inspirational words in them. The one on the left is the Audrey Hepburn quote ''For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone." And the other frame simply said " You are beautiful." I love them both and I'm thinking putting those words into frames too.

This is a close up of the pretty rhinestone and ribbon used to package the box which held Laura's present. Lovely Lucinda, one of Laura's bridesmaid put it together. And she doesn't think she's creative! It's gorgeous!

This is the outfit Laura had to wear for her Hens. That's her older sister tying up the dress with ribbon. We played a pass the parcel type game which had little bits to put on her as well as some type of task we had to do.

Laura and I at the venue where we had the main part of the hens. She still looks gorgeous even with the green hair and other little bits and pieces attached to her. I can't believe she's getting married in about two weeks time! Wow!

I wish her every bit of happiness and I know that she will be a fantastic wife as she is a friend. Mwa love you lovely girl!

A little bit of everything

I love getting my hair cut. And being pampered in the process is a bonus. I went to GW Private room yesterday with my middle brother's girlfriend. She had a 50% off voucher so I obliged =) I had an aromatherapy head massage before the head massage while getting my hair washed plus the chair was a massage chair! While waiting I had my green tea and mango yogurt which I had requested from a list they gave me. The music is relaxing and the whole atmosphere is as well. I couldn't go there all the time because money wise it's just not practical but I had a little piece of luxury.

Anyway, Danni from Oh Hello Friend, is having a giveaway.

The banner above shows the items that were kindly donated. So get over there and enter =)Plus check out her other inspiring posts, lovely finds and beautiful pictures.

These are the invitations I made for my friend Laura's Hen's night this Saturday night.

I had fun making them. I might play around with the idea more to come up with something for my Etsy. I really need to update and add more items.

A close up. I was originally going to make a large corset and open it up but it just didn't seem to work on a large scale, whereas, the tiny one looked a lot better.

My creative pursuits continue on. Tomorrow I will be getting my tabletop letterpress from Bespoke Press. So that's exciting news. Plus on Monday night I had my first dress making course. I should have specified that it's a dress making course not sewing lesson like I said in my previous post. It's been fun. I'm working towards making a simple skirt and learning how to read patterns. My only embarrassing moment was when I smacked my head under a shelf =( I didn't look up and bang instant bump on my head. It hurt for quite a bit the next day.

Anyway, have a great weekend!

The beginning of my creative pursuits

Tomorrow night I have my first sewing lesson/course. I'm kind of nervous but I'm sure it will be fine. I'm going to try making a simple skirt for now. I had fun looking through the pattern books and wished I could one day make my own clothes. I will keep you updated.

Here are some envelopes I have been playing around with. I might put them in my Etsy
This is the one of my ideas. I'm thinking of making a few more of these envelopes. I will most likely have tags? Or a skinny mini note card.

I was playing around with my new Basic Grey stamps. I definitely need some new ink pads. I'm also thinking of playing around with embossing powders.

This week I'm also getting my tabletop letterpress from Bespoke Press. This picture is a photo of some items I bought from Simple Song Design. Letterpress is beautiful! So I'm quite excited to try my own designs!!

Have a great week everyone xox
