Bridesmaid dress crisis

At this moment I've got this cough that just won't go away and my poor iPhone has died. Looks like it needs some fixing. Sigh. I was doing so well by not ever dropping it but I did this morning onto the kitchen tiles.

Anyway, I know this whole bridesmaid dress thing isn't really a crisis, I'm just being overly dramatic. But I went to see a dressmaker and it turns out that it was a lot more expensive than I thought to get the dresses made. I had a mini freak out because I had always planned on getting them made and hadn't looked around too much. So now I'm thinking of just choosing the same dress and just get it altered slightly??

This dress from Forever New is a top contender. It's basic but quite pretty and I could add a little something to each dress to make it more unique and individual to each of my bridesmaids.

I know I was thinking about getting each bridesmaid to have a different style dress but as I had mentioned it doesn't seem to be happening. So I thought that dress up above could be a good starting point. I had another idea of having a Grecian style. Like this...

Maybe I could get a brooch added or a one shoulder sleeve to look a bit more Grecian like? (To the Forever New dress).

Or maybe I could put a lovely flower on the waist or something such as these dresses. Either on a belt/ribbon or as a brooch. Or I could mix up these accessories to make it different for each girl??

Gah! I know I've been really indecisive about bridesmaid and I'm sure you're all sick of my going on about it but I'm truly struggling to figure out what to do. So please disregard of my yapping. I feel the first signs of being stressed.

Anyway, thanks for all your lovely comments and I hope you have a fantastic week!!

MBFF 2009 Part 2

Hey lovelies! This is the second part of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival. On Monday night, Laura, Kristina and I went to one of the ready to wear group shows.

Beforehand, Laura and I met up to have a light dinner. Then Kristina came and we all went to City Hall together from there.

Laura and I outside before we went in. It was another beautiful night weather wise.

When we got there they were giving out Napoleon Perdis samples and they had a little set up to get your lips done. I was taking some random photos of Laura with her fancy camera.

And I got this one. I'm quite proud of this =) The light is really pretty in the background.

Laura took this one. I didn't have the guts to have any colour besides a neutral shade. One day I might try a colour.

This is Kristina and me before the show. City Hall is a beautiful old building that was shut for awhile for renovations. They have this lovely marble staircase in the main foyer. I had my year 12 formal at City Hall.

It was a lot harder to take photos at this show. So I let Laura do it =) I loved this dress and the back is so pretty.

The most embarrassing thing that happened was one of the models dresses fell off her shoulder right when she went to the end of the runway so all the photographers had a good shot of her boob. She handled it pretty well but then it fell down again when she was facing us going back up the runway. I know models have to deal with situations like that but still it would suck.

They gave everything these little gift bags from Napolean, which were quite cute.

I would really like to try out Napoleon sometime. I see it at the shopping centre when I work and I've always felt compelled to try it out.

MBFF 2009 Part 1

On Sunday and Monday night I went to two Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival shows. Sunday lunch time it was the swimwear show and last night it was a ready to wear group show. I went with two of my beautiful girls Laura and Kristina. I tried to take photos at the swimwear show but it was hard and I didn't use my zoom until later on. Plus it was a super hot day for winter. I regret that I was wearing jeans and not a dress like half the other girls that were there.

My absolute favourite swimsuit of the day! Laura and Kristina loved it too! Sorry my pictures are nowhere near as good as Laura's ones.

I just liked this. It looks exotic and makes me think of travelling and beaches in faraway places. Plus the colour is pretty.

I'm not a one-piece person but I don't mind this style. I wouldn't wear it but if I was to ever buy one. It would probably look something like this.

This was at the end of the show. When you see models it's hard not to want to exercise and feel as though my legs are short stumps (I guess in comparison they sort of are sigh). But it was a beautiful day as hot as it was.

I had to add this one so the bikini could be seen up close. We just loved it! I'm seriously thinking of buying it if I can ever visit one of the stores it's stocked in. Honeymoon bikini perhaps? (It's a way to justify the expensive price it's sure to be).

Afterwards we went to Kristina's place to hang for the rest of the day. She is such a great hostess. She made these brownies here.

And she made these mini cupcakes, and the two different type of cookies. YUM! It was so good. Catching up, eating yummy food and just hanging with the girls is a fantastic way to end the day. We haven't done that in so long.

Ok these next few photos are a bit of a montage. We took a few photos and they always ended up a bit funny.

I just adore these girls and I'm glad they will be with me on my wedding day. Our next plan is to watch the Coco Chanel movie and go shopping in a different side of Brisbane. We also planned a girls trip for overseas sometime. I've wanted to do that for awhile now.

I will have part two up soonish. It was about the show we watched last night =)

I received this Wedding Guide this morning! I mentioned in one of my past posts that we met a lady randomly in a cafe and she worked for a Wedding Guide and she said she would send me a free copy. And it came this morning. Whee! It's a nice surprise.

I thought I would put some of our engagement invites in the photo too. We kept it simple and used one of the photos from our engagement session. I sent out some of them a few days ago.

So at the moment it's our next priority to organise the engagement party. We already have a venue. It's casual but it's a nice place. My sis in law had her 30th there last year.

Today I'm spending time figuring out decos for our engagement party and because I'd like to make them and do it myself I checked out Martha Stewart Weddings for some paper decoration ideas. I'd love to hang some of these at the venue.

I love this idea especially because I'm such a butterfly freak. I might have to use this idea either at engagement or wedding.

Also we thought to have some type of engagement cake as dessert and I'd really like a Filipino chiffon cake. I don't eat that much filo food (especially cause I'm Aussie born) but I love Filipino desserts.

This was a cake for my mum's birthday last year. Funny it's her birthday next week actually! But it's soo good. So soft and light and the icing isn't too sweet.

Anyway, I'm going to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival this week with my girls! Going to be amazing! This is our third year going.

It's a beautiful day!

Taken this morning

It is the most gorgeous day here today. The sun is shining and there is a cool, gentle breeze. I can't believe it's still winter here with all this lovely weather. I spent the morning furiously trying to get some engagement invitations out so my mum could pop them in the post for me before she went shopping. I might write a post about our engagement party when it gets closer.

As usual I'm at loss at what to post about but I have some sweet photos I want to share with some lyrics to a song I love. The song is With Me by Sum 41

"I don't want this moment to ever end
Where every thing's nothing without you
I wait here forever just to, to see you smile
'Cause it's true I am nothing without you"

" Through it all I've made my mistakes
I stumble and fall but I mean these words "

Image via Flickr

" I want you to know with everything I won't let this go
These words are my heart and soul
I'll hold on to this moment you know
As I bleed my heart out to show and I won't let go "

" Thoughts read unspoken forever and now
The pieces of memories fall to the ground
I know what I did and how so, I won't let this go
'Cause it's true I am nothing without you "

" All the streets where I walked alone
With nowhere to go have come to an end "

I'll hold on to this moment you know
As I bleed my heart out to show and I won't let go "

When you don't know what you're looking to find
In front of your eyes it falls from the skies

What you will find, what you will find "

I just love this song. Jason and I always seem to really love emotionally driven songs. So we don't have a special song because they're all sad lol.

Have a wonderful week!!

Weekend inspiration

I'm sort of at loss at what to blog about lately so if anyone has ideas I'm open =) I thought I might post about one of my favourite stationery designers.

I'm a huge fan of Cristina Re. I adore her paper line, absolutely beautiful. I read on the Real Weddings blog that she has opened a store called Where a Girl Goes. Here's part of the description I pulled from the Cristina Re website.

" Offering the complete range of beautiful Cristina Re designer stationery, accessories, plus confectionery, home décor, fashion and more, Cristina’s exquisite new concept store offers a truly unique shopping experience for stylish women with an eye for style and taste for the finer things with all the trimmings.

Celebrate love, throw a lavish engagement party or plan the wedding of your dreams. With a boutique collection of designer papers, accessories and tools, plus an equally blissful selection of sweet delights, the Cristina Re store is the ultimate indulgent destination.

It’s where a girl goes to create her own invitations at the in-store papercraft academy. It’s where a girl goes for high tea with friends, to indulge and delight over a cup of coffee and exquisite cupcakes, macaroons and chocolates."

I'm so completely in love with the whole idea of that shop. It's my dream store! I mean seriously, being surrounded by beautiful paper that I can create with in store while indulging on delicious sweets and being able to hang with my girls. Oh wow! Don't blame me for swooning. It's an absolute dream for me!

Anyway here are some gorgeous photos that I have taken from the website. Her style is quite girly but I love it. Sometimes being overly girly is a bit of a guilty pleasure. I'm really not a complete girly girl (besides loving pink, ballet flats, pretty dresses, beautiful home wares etc I'm actually a bit of a nerd when it comes to epic movies, soundtracks, books and I become a whole different person lol...and I rather wear cute flats than towering heels besides my short stature sigh). Who am I kidding I am girly!...with some nerdiness thrown in haa!

Ok, back to the images after my little side story (so sorry got a bit carried away).

This is Cristina Re herself. I'm in love the items behind her and that old fashioned cash register.

How I adore those pink coffee cups.

This is where you can create your own treasures.

This is her newest addition to her line. Butterflies! Eee!

When I see these images it makes me wish I could deck out our wedding like that but I would never subject Jason to such an explosion of girliness on our special day (plus he wouldn't let me). A bridal shower or for a kitchen tea perhaps? Unfortunately not for our engagement party either, which we are trying to plan.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy your weekend!! And remember if you have any ideas for posts let me know. Oh and to remind you all again about our wedding website if you want to check it out =)
