Wishing for a house

Via Tumblr

As I briefly mentioned in my last post Jason and I were looking to buy a townhouse. Well it's gone. The owners suddenly decided they didn't want to sell anymore. We had seen this advertised in the paper but then it was under contract but that contract fell through. So we saw it advertised again. There were a few people interested in the place and technically we were 2nd in line. We made an offer but they didn't take it and we made another offer and that's when they decided they didn't want to sell anymore....So frustrating! We had done all the paperwork and we were so close to getting it. We had already started thinking it was ours. I had started mentally planning decor.

In the end I think it's not meant to be. God has a better place planned for us and there's not much we can do about it.

Anyway, I'm going to the dress maker to get my wedding dress altered and my matron of honour Liz is getting some straps put on her dress. I had bought some fabric and thought I had bought a blue that was similar but no it's completely different. Moh. Oh well maybe it will look fine.

On a random note, here are two pictures from last weekend. It was Jason's brother's girlfriend's (that's a mouthful) 21st party. She had a spring/pastel theme going.

I don't actually have a spring looking dresses really. And this top is a peachy colour but you can't really tell. So I put a flower to compensate.

She had pretty lights strung up. I tried to take some photos of it but my camera can never really capture the right lighting. So I had to Poladroid it.

Here is some pretty inspiration for the weekend.....

I love mail

* Hoping that we get our townhouse - more about this next time*

It's another random post today. Some days I have no idea what to write about. I thought I would share my love for mail and letters.

As I've mentioned countless times, I adore receiving letters and mail. I love to send it too. It brings me such joy to make up and send out a little package. This is why I love pen pals. And my recent love for Postcrossing. I decided I now collect postcards.

The happiness and excitement I fee when I look in the mailbox and find a letter is hard to contain. I sometimes squeal and do a little dance. Reading a handwritten letter and knowing someone took the time to sit down and write is just lovely. For me writing letters and putting together a little package together makes happy, especially when I imagine the other person receiving it knowing they appreciate it. I want to keep the art of writing and letters alive which I why I like having pen pals. Does anyone else like receiving mail.

Anyway here is an assortment of letter inspired photos.

I hope you liked my little post on mail and hope that you all see the loveliness that is mail. Have a wonderful rest of week.

Random photography and purchases

Today I thought I would share my random purchases and photography. I played around with iPhoto with some of the pictures.

These first few are from last weekend when we went up to the Sunshine Coast.

This is the view from my brother's place. The beach is only about 5 minutes away from where he lives. Walking distance definitely.

There were some people sky diving onto the beach. It was so fascinating to watch as they floated down.

Jase and me trying to take a photo. It was a lovely day.

As I mentioned last post we had some gelato after the beach. This is my brother Alvin and his fiancee Melly. Too bad you can't really see the beautiful sunset in the background.

I took this photo on my iPhone then used Poladroid. This was the inside of the gelato place. I took the photo from outside. The flavours were so yummy.

I bought this journal and stickers from Kikki.K . I haven't decided when I'm going to start using it. Maybe after the wedding to document the first year.

I love Hershey's Kisses. One of my playing around with camera and iPhoto pictures.

I bought those Twilight journals in a tin that have just come out.

They are quite nice the journals. I kind of hate how hyped up this series is. I loved it way before all the psycho fan girls (though I can't say that I'm not a bit of a fan girl myself :p)

I bought Vicki Archer's new book. I bought the last one at work. Yay!

This is my collection. I have both Vicki Archer's books and Carla Coulson's books too. She took the photos in all these books. These books are gorgeous!

Anyway, I should get back to. Lots of things to do today. Poor Jason is completely swamped at work. He's been working back late and going in early. I haven't seen him all week! Plus some friends of his convinced him to participate in a mini triathlon. So he's going to have to start training with them, which means swimming twice a week, going for runs and a bike ride. Plus Jase goes to the gym 3 times a week with 2 sessions with a personal trainer plus he has indoor soccer. Gah! I need to get back into exercise.

Have a wonderful weekend lovelies! And thanks for all the comments. You're all so fantastic.

Wedding Invitations

Thanks for all your lovely comments about the brides maid dresses. I'm so glad I have finally made a decision.

Had a busy weekend with work, a beach trip and a 21st birthday. The beach was fantastic! Jason and I went up to the Sunshine Coast. Melly my brother Alvin's fiancee had a small surprise lunch for his birthday (a belated one we already celebrated his bday). It was lovely hanging out and having a BBQ. We hung out at the beach afterwards and I attempted to learn how to surf. Not good but then it wasn't a good day to learn. Waves were too choppy. We hung out more then went for Gelato which is so good. The 21st at night we were just too tired to stay for long.

So many wedding things to do. At the moment I'm figuring out wedding invitations. I haven't quite decided if we are going to do print them or have more of a DIY look. If it's DIY I would love for them to look like the Cristina Re ones.

I bought the long envelope and the window envelope and I'm going to play around with it and see if it works or looks dodgy.

Here are a few examples with how these envelopes can be used.

I was going to use this idea but for the invites (this looks like a thank you card) and have a few pages inside with the wedding details.

This is really the colour theme. White and silver. But I've added some pastel shades with the brides maid and some of the other decos will have soft colour.

I bought the silver paper. So I will play around with it soon.

The hearts are raised silver foil. It's pretty and I was thinking about this paper too.

I wanted to add this for a burst of colour. The envelopes great. And the more I see it the more I'm thinking about using them for the invites.

I just love this. These cards are gorgeous and I wish I could use them for something =)

This is one of my projects for the week. Figure out wedding invitations and other stationery. I think it will be fun.

Wedding Update

It's apparently 101 days until our wedding according to my countdown on Facebook. This concerns me and excites me too! I thought it was time for a bit of an update.

At the moment I'm focusing on wedding invitations and other stationery. I have a vague idea of what it's going to look like and we are working on it this weekend sometime. Amongst going for a beach trip, a birthday and work.

I have bought my wedding dress. It's all paid for and hanging up here at home but still needs the hem to be taken up which I will be getting done next week. I tried it on in the shop and the fit is perfect. I was by myself when I picked it up so no one besides the sales girls have seen it on in the right size (the one in the shop was absolutely huge, they had to hold it up for me) I also realise that I haven't bought a veil yet. So I will be going back to that wedding shop to find one.

I have finally found my bridesmaid dresses after changing my mind so many times. I decided to go with the same dress style but different colours. There will be 2 in pale pink, 2 in lilac and 1 in aqua blue. Here are my iPhone photos of the dresses (lilac and aqua) and Laura's beautiful shots of the pink one.

The lilac dress.

Modeled by Laura. I didn't actually cut her head out I was trying to get the whole dress in the pic. This colour is for my matron of honour Liz.

This is the pink dress. I decided to have the three colours because I really loved the dress. It's sort of a Grecian style as well.

I was thinking of having a flower or some type of brooch for each girl. These are a few ideas. All flowers from Diva, except the top right from Equip. I'm going to check Etsy too.

There will be another update soon about Honeymoon and lots of other things.

P.S. I'm going to be on Diamonds in the Rough blog tomorrow! And thanks for your trip opinions =) More about that another time.
