The Hunger Games Spoiler Post

So as you know I saw the midnight session of The Hunger Games movie. I watched it again on Sunday with Jasmine. I loved it the first time I saw it but I was also tired and a little hyper. I don't think I really appreciated it on my first viewing. After watching it on Sunday I enjoyed it so much more. 

I can't think of a better person to play Katniss. Jennifer Lawrence is amazing. And Josh Hutcherson completely stole my heart as the boy with the bread. Stanley Tucci is the most amazing Caesar Flickerman. 

I loved the scenes that they added in that were not in the book. Such as...

♥ Katniss giving the three figure salute to the camera for District 11 and they in turn were doing it back to her and then revolted. It just shows that Katniss was already becoming a symbol of hope and revolution. 

♥ Haymitch talking to Seneca Crane about giving the viewers something to hope for (after the revolt starting in the districts and capital) with young love. I found this fascinating because this very well could be one of the reasons why there was a rule change in the first place.

♥ I loved the Caesar Flickerman and Claudius Templesmith scenes where they would explain things happening in the Games. Seeing as most things were in Katniss' head, so it was an interesting perspective.

♥ Seneca Crane entering the room at the end with the nightlock berries in the bowl. I always assumed he was executed by hanging but that's because of the particular scene in Catching Fire. 

Of course I adored seeing Katniss and Peeta together in the cave. That was one of my favourite parts of the book. And Rue's death made me cry. I remember thinking how utterly tragic it was. And Amandla Stenberg was just so sweet as Rue. 

I'm quite glad that they cut the scene with Cato and the mutts because I didn't really want to see him being mauled and hear him moaning all night. 

Overall I think it was fantastic! One of the best book adaptations I've seen. I know they cut certain things out and changed things but that's necessary. If I could add anything I would have loved to see a longer interview at the end with Caesar and the heartbreaking scene of when Katniss tells Peeta she was faking it. My heart died a little when I read that for the first time 3 years ago.

I'll be sure to watch the movie again sometime soon! Looking forward to it and I'm so happy one of my favourite books was made so well.

Midnight for The Hunger Games

Hello hello. I saw The Hunger Games at midnight last night/this morning :) I don't want to spoil anything but I loved it. It was quite true to the book and Jennifer Lawrence is just amazing. They had to cut bits out and change a few things but that's fine. A movie is always different.

I'll be sure to be watching it again this weekend with Jasmine and at least another time with Jason. I seriously can't believe that I've seen it. It feels like a dream (probably because it was 2:30am when it finished). Eeee! 

Tiny Mail

I have always loved teeny tiny things. And when I saw this little over at Letter Writers Alliance, I did a little squeal. Lea Redmond of World's Smallest Post has partnered with Chronicle Books to release this gorgeous stationery set to send your own tiny mail. When it's released I might have to gift this to myself :) I had actually sent Jason a tiny letter via World's Smallest Post and have loved it ever since.

Katniss is Cast

So I have been checking for news for The Hunger Games movie for awhile now and was happy to find out that Jennifer Lawrence has been cast as Katniss. 

I first heard of her when she was nominated for an Oscar for Winter's Bone. And there was the rumour that she was the front runner for the role so I looked her up.

And I have to get this out. I know there have been so many haters as to how she looks (blonde and blue eyed and too 'old'). As opposed to Katniss who is supposed to have dark hair, grey eyes and olive toned skin. Plus she's meant to be small and only 16. 

But, I trust Gary Ross the director and Suzanne Collins herself was at each audition and she completely praises Jennifer. She herself said she would rather someone a little older than someone too young (she has to incite a rebellion after all) I much rather have someone who doesn't quite have the looks but can carry the character instead of someone who looks like her but only a so so actress. 

Plus characters and stories from book to screen is different. You can't always follow a book exactly. I haven't seen Winter's Bone yet but from the trailer she has a very Katniss attitude and the accent for it. I think she will be brilliant!

Anyway, sorry this was a ranty post and I know everyone has their own opinion so that is just mine :) I mean no offense to anyway who thinks differently.
