Bookbinding

I enjoy bookbinding. I have only made a few. None which are that great yet, but I will hopefully get there. I use this Site for my bookbinding instructions. I usually use thickish cardboard but I would love proper bookbinding board or chipboard. Anyway, I also use those small, thin artist canvases as my cover pages.
Here are the main products I use. The paper in the pic is the paper I will be using for my next attempt. I want to make heaps more soon. Especially when I get some chipboard and bookbinding board. The canvas pictured here aren't the ones I use but I can't really find the ones I have. When I have finised my journal I will post a picture.

This seller Stacyhandmade from Etsy has some cute little handbound journals.
This is one of her sweet little journals.

Etsy is a fantastic site for all handmade goods. There are so many different things on here. In time I would love to have an etsy store as well. I just need to make quite a few things before I start selling.

Also I have found this interesting idea from Martha Stewart.

I love this idea. I thought it would be great to make your own journals and use this idea to present to someone. I'm all about presentation. Especially with presents.

Cristina Re

I am trying to write more often in my blog. So I thought I would dedicate a post to Cristina Re. She has a whole lot of beautiful papers, accessories, envelopes etc all for making invitations and other paper crafts. I made a few mosaics of some of my favourite items from the website. There is heaps more at retail places. Here they are:

This is the pretty paper and other things. I love it. I think its all so beautiful.

These are some ideas for invites from the website. There are so many different things you can do with the paper.

These are other examples of invites and using the paper to wrap presents and things. All so lovely.

And these are some ideas for papercrafts. They would love beautiful as book covers. Especially when I start doing some bookbinding again. I'm sure there are more wonderful paper but I just love hers. Plus she is Australian which is good to see some Australian products around.

I'm also happy that I figured out a way to make a box like structure around the pictures. I played around with photo shop again =)

A catch up

It feels like it has been ages since I posted last. I would love to post more often though. Yesterday it was Anzac day and it is an important day to Australians. To remember those who fought and died for this country. I would love to attend a dawn service sometime. Hopefully next year.

It was a public holiday so Jason, my parents and my 2 little nephews and I went to Minnippi Parklands for lunch. It was a beautiful day. We ate and went walking along the tracks while Isaiah rode his scooter and Caeleb his little bike/stroller thing.Hard to explain what it is. It was a fun day.

And on tuesday I had my e-health prac at the Royal Childrens hospital. It was quite fun and it was great to get some hands on experiece. Not that I will be going into telemedicine or anything. I can't wait to see the photos that were taken by the co-ordinator and the others who helped that day.

I have a few photos of what I made in the Swap-bot Little box of joy swap. Here they are
This is everything. I decorated the box and made the nestlace (the term used on Craftster), and
the little owl pendant made from a glass marble with little picture underneath, the nestlace earrings, a few random beads, the envelopes and postcards are just extra items.
This is a close up of the necklaces I made. I like my little nest and my little owl.
And this is the close up of the nestlace style earrings I made. I quite like them as well =)

A picture from yesterday of me mucking around with the settings on my camera. I love those shoes I have on as Jason bought them for me when he went to Sydney last year I think it was. They're my Keds.
And the little nephews. They were having fun at the park.
Oh and my mum won tickets to the Brisbane Stitches and Craft show. Yay! We will be going next weekend.

Thats it for now =)

My craftiness

I have been spending this week off uni doing some crafting. It has been quite relaxing especially after my busy month. But I have to do some uni work a little later. And tomorrow is the funeral. He's being cremated. It's going to be a very emotional day tomorrow I know it will be.

Anyway, on a lighter note here are some pictures of my craftiness from this past week. Most of it anyway.

This is a little canvas I had in my head and was able to finish on saturday. I like it even though its not the neatest painting. And I love butterflies. And don't mind the photo its crooked I know =)

And this is a collecton of a few things I made. Some earrings, I painted that little chest, and those little marble gem things the picture if paper that I glued underneath. I got this idea from Craftster and the many people who use the idea.

This is my Alice in Wonderland stencil shirt I made yesterday. I love it. I love Alice in Wonderland as well.

And this one is the vintage Barbie head silhouette. I've been wanting to do this for ages.

These are the main things that I did yesterday except the painting. So yeh I have had fun. Especially coz I was watching these Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale dvds while making things. It makes it more interesting sometimes.

Good Friday and other things

It's Good Friday today. I'm spending the day doing different things. I have many things to catch up on.

First, some sad news. David my sister in laws daddy passed away yesterday. It is a really sad time for the family as he has been battling cancer but it has finally taken him away. So I just want to say that David was a wonderful loving husband, brother, grandpa and friend and we will all miss him soo much! We miss you David =( I would like to put a photo of him up later.

Oh and Jasons fish Bob died last night. It's really quite sad as I bought him that fish and I know he's only a fish but still he was a part of the family. I want to make a little cross for his grave as he will be buried today.

Anyway, I don't want to dwell on the sad things and Davids memory will always be with us.

I had the Easter musical last weekend. It was awesome! I really enjoyed dancing in it. It was great fun and many people were moved and touched by it. There were a few scenes which I really wanted to cry in as they were so powerful! Here are a few pics of us. This is a pic of Monique and me. This was for the Wedding scene at the beginning. Mon wasn't able to do it the first night as it was her 21st. So on friday night I went straight her 21st party. And this is us in our 60/70's gear for another dance. Not that you can really see that here.

And last night I had another 21st. But I haven't loaded my photos from that one yet. I do have a pic of the necklace I made her though. I love turquoise. It's a gorgeous colour. I made her this necklace and I really like it.

Also yesterday I watched 300! Jason was excited of course. It was great. It came out yesterday. I was able to read the graphic novel before so I knew what was going on. They did stay true to most of it which was great. King Leonidas is awesome. Gerard Butler is the actor. I also love David Wenham. He's an Aussie and I've liked him since he played Faramir in Lord of the Rings. This is David Wenham at the end. I heard and read that they are to train for two months before the movie to get all buff. So all of them are buff as in the movie.

Thats in for now. I hope everyone has a great Easter.
